The first Chili’s Grill & Bar opened on March 13, 1975, in an old Dallas post office. Every year Chili’s employees, or ChiliHeads, gather in Dallas for a big birthday party to celebrate another year of food and fun. This year for the first time though, you can join the celebration by toasting the restaurant chain with a Chili’s margarita.
The chain famous for its baby back ribs is offering its just as famous Presidente Margarita for a super cheap price, a mere $3.13, in honor of the restaurant’s 43rd birthday. The catch is, you’ve only got today to take advantage of this birthday gift in form of a margarita deal from Chili’s to you.
Made with Sauza Conmemorativo Tequila, Patrón Citrónge Premium Orange Liqueur, Presidente Brandy, and Chili’s proprietary House Sweet & Sour mix, the Presidente Margarita is the restaurant’s best-selling drink. In fact, it’s so popular that a couple of years ago, they put the drink on tap. Every Presidente Margarita ordered is served as a draft from a giant keg, with batches of the drink being made fresh every day.
Chili’s makes a big deal out of the presentation for their signature drink, too. As your server carries the drink to your table, it is shaken exactly 25 times. The branded plastic blue shaker holds a bit more of the premium margarita than the salt-rimmed glass, so the shaker is left at your table with the extra.
Take a long lunch or turn your early happy hour into a Tuesday Fest; happy hour starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m., then again from 9 p.m. until they close. So if you’re strategic, you can get some cheap eats to go with your cheap drink.
But with a margarita at this price, maybe you’ll be tempted to splurge and treat your friends, too. Just tell them you’re celebrating a birthday!
