Remember when customers started a full-on social media campaign to keep the Spicy Chicken Biscuit? Well as it turns out, Chick-fil-A was listening all along. Of course you might not find the Spicy Chicken Biscuit itself back on menus, that doesn't mean you won't be able to recreate it with these two new spicy menu offerings. Chick-fil-A is bringing Spicy Chick-n-Strips to participating restaurants in Central Texas and South Texas, along with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania residents.
Of course, Texas isn't the only state to earn the right to spicy Chick-fil-A items on the menu, even though countless menu items never make it to the nationwide stage. Residents in Orlando, Florida; St. Louis, Missouri; and Knoxville, Tennessee will have the chance to try the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich.
Looks like Chick-fil-A decided to divide and conquer between regions, and if you ask us, Texas got the best pick of the new entrees. Slap one of those new Spicy Chick-n-Strips on a biscuit for breakfast and you've basically recreated a beloved Chick-fil-A staple.
According to the press release from The Chicken Wire, "48 percent of customers are interested in trying chicken entrees with new or unique flavors, and preferences for spicy flavors are growing." We can attest to that, as hot sauce sales are some of the only condiment sales that are still increasing year over year.
Available in the traditional 3-count of 4-count, the Spicy Chick-n-Strips are seasoned with a blend of spicy peppers, hand-breaded and are cooked in 100 percent refined peanut oil. Why peanut oil? Cooking oils with high smoke points are ideal for frying, especially when working with fried chicken that requires a high temperature to get that crispy bite we love.
As Kanika Patrick, manager of menu development at Chick-fil-A stated,
"We've heard from our customers how much they love our current spicy menu offerings, so we're really excited to give them even more spicy flavor options to enjoy.
We hope our guests in the test cities will try the new Spicy Chick-n-Strips and Grilled Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich and let us know what they think - their feedback will help us determine whether or not we will roll out the new entrees nationwide in the future."
As for the Grilled Spicy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich that's coming to our Northern friends, it is a grilled chicken filet marinated in a spicy seasoning, served on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese, tomato, and lettuce. It comes with a new Cilantro Lime Sauce, featured in packets in the photos so could this sauce be available for dipping? Only time will tell.
Why was Texas chosen to test the new spicy chicken items? Once Chick-fil-A released its list of select cities that ordered the most original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches in 2016 and two major Texas cities took home the second and third spots, it's clear that Texans love Chick-fil-A.
