Why Your Local Burger King May Be Swarmed with Clowns on Halloween

Pop into a Burger King on Halloween night, and you might notice the clientele looks a little creepier than normal. They may be evil clowns seeking victims, but they could also just be participating in Burger King's free Whopper promotion. The burger joint has promised to hand out free Whoppers to the first 500 diners who visit dressed in clown costumes on Halloween night.

To announce the "Scary Clown Night" promo, Burger King released a pretty darn spooky commercial, where a kid is chased into a Burger King by a swarm of sinister clowns. The ad ends with a shot of an evil Ronald McDonald look-a-like growling, "I want my Whopper". The tagline of the campaign is "come as a clown, eat like a king"--another sassy jab at Micky D's.

This isn't the first time Burger King has poked fun at its golden "arch" rival as a Halloween prank. Last year, the chain dressed up a Burger King in New York as McDonald's ghost.

Could this be a BK Halloween tradition in the making?

So strap on oversized shoes, brush your rainbow wig, and shine your red nose, then hop in a clown car and head to Burger King this Halloween. Keep in mind, the free Whopper isn't available at the drive-thru, so you'll have to park your clown car outside.
