Burger King Chicken Fries Are The Best of Both Worlds

French fries are one of the best things to come out of the fast food industry, right up there with soft serve ice cream and double cheeseburgers. There seems to be an endless variety of these crispy potato snacks, from waffle fries to curly fries to sweet potato fries. However, one type of fry that stands apart from the rest is Burger King chicken fries.

These fries are really only fries in name, as they're made from chicken rather than potatoes. They're essentially a combination of French fries and chicken nuggets- they're made of chicken, but come in a size, shape and container reminiscent of French fries.

What Are Burger King Chicken Fries?

This magical concoction on the Burger King menu is made with white meat chicken, then coated in a light crispy breading flavored with spices. Shaped like fries, Chicken Fries are made to be enjoyed with Burger King's dipping sauces, which include BBQ, Honey Mustard, Ranch, Zaesty, Buffalo, and Sweet & Sour sauce.

When they were created in 2005, Chicken Fries were a limited-time offering, and they've come and gone over the years. The fast food chain has also tried out different variations of these fried chicken delights, like Buffalo Chicken Fries, Cheeto Chicken Fries, Pretzel Chicken Fries, and Fiery Chicken Fries flavored with cayenne pepper and black pepper.

Burger King also created the much-loved Chicken Fry Sauce, advertised on the fast food chains social media accounts as "the sauce of all sauces," with a hashtag #AskForTheSauce. This combo of BBQ sauce and honey mustard has been discontinued, much to the sadness of many a Burger King customer. In fact, some have even started a petition to bring back the legendary sauce.

What is the Difference Between Chicken Fries and Chicken Tenders?

Although many Burger King lovers are understandably confused about the difference between Chicken Fries and Chicken Tenders, we can assure you that these menu items are not the same. BK Chicken Fries are made with chicken breasts, which are sliced into long strips that imitate the shape of French fries. These are then breaded and deep fried.

As for Chicken Tenders, these are created from chopped bits of many different chickens, which are then pressed together. Tenders are breaded as well, but the breading has fewer herbs and spices to be compatible with children's taste buds. Although the fast food chain doesn't currently sell Chicken Tenders, we can only hope that they'll come back so that confused consumers can do a side-by-side comparison.

What Does a Chicken Fry Taste Like?

These crispy fried chicken strips are comparable to other chicken items like chicken sandwiches and and tenders. They have slightly spicy seasoning, giving them more flavor than BK's chicken nuggets or McDonald's chicken McNuggets. Their breading is also thicker than many other classic chicken menu items. Burger King Chicken Fries are essentially extra flavorful chicken tenders with yummy sauces for dipping.

Although chains like KFC and Chick-fil-A might first come to mind when you're craving a breaded, deep fried chicken meal, Burger King holds their own with their delectable Chicken Fries. The perfect side for a Whopper or Cheeseburger, Burger King Chicken Fries are the tasty menu item that offer the convenience of French Fries and the deliciousness of chicken.
