Grab a Big Red and Barbacoa at This Texas Movie Theater

Watch the newest movies in Texas-style at the City Base Cinema in San Antonio, Texas. The movie theater which features 10 screens and Sony 4K digital projection, is the perfect place to visit on a date night or an afternoon with friends. Along with serving the usual suspects (popcorn, soda, nachos), the multiplex announced a new concession special that'll get you in the Texas spirit; Big Red and Barbacoa tacos.

According to the City Base Entertainment Facebook page, the Tex-Mex favorite will feature 2 tacos and a large Big Red for only $10. When it comes to movie theater prices, this deal is a steal! Currently, the theater is showing new releases like Bad Boys for Life, Dolittle, 1917, and Frozen 2.

San Antonio and its love for Big Red and Barbacoa

Nothing says Texas like Big Red and Barbacoa and San Antonio agrees. This year the city is hosting the 10th annual barbacoa & big red festival on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, 2020, at The Greenline inside Brooks. Last year the festival was only one day, however, due to popularity, the family-friendly event added an additional day for San Antonians to celebrate.

How To Make Barbacoa Tacos

Making your own barbacoa tacos at home is as easy as firing up the slow cooker. Cut the chuck roast into 2-inch chunks and add to the slow cooker along with garlic, chipotle in adobo sauce, chopped green chilies, onion, fresh lime juice, apple cider vinegar, bay leaves, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, ground cloves, and beef stock. Stir to combine and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender and falls apart easily when shredded with a fork.

Once shredded, toss the beef in the cooking liquid, then serve on tortillas with chopped cilantro, lime wedges, and chopped white onion.
