Ben & Jerry's

Ben and Jerry's Flavors: The Best and Worst of This Lonely Late Night Binge

Is there any ice cream better than Ben and Jerry's? There are so many Ben and Jerry's flavors on offer from the Vermont-based company, it's almost harder than choosing at a scoop shop. With flavors like cinnamon buns, s'mores, the Tonight dough, toffee, vanilla caramel fudge, white chocolate, chocolate cookie swirls, fudge swirls, super fudge, sweet cream ice cream, peanut butter ice cream, pecan, ganache, and even peanut butter cookie dough, it's tough to decide what to grab for your next Netflix binge. So, which Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors should you pick up from grocery store? It's a hard decision, but we're going to try. We think Ben & Jerry (Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, the founders who were childhood friends in New York), would be proud of our efforts.

1. Best - Half-Baked

The Ben and Jerry's website, benjerry.com, has a list of the top Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors of 2020, and this one was king. "Year after year and chunk after chunk, this heavy-hitter flavor reigns supreme in the ice cream aisle," the ranking notes.

2. Worst - Vanilla

Sorry, but vanilla ice cream just isn't all that exciting. There's nothing particularly disgusting about this flavor, but it's just not that remarkable either.

3. Best - Cherry Garcia

This one also made the official list, and can you blame fans? It's probably one of the most iconic flavors, with cherry ice cream and fudge flakes, and it's also certified gluten-free. If you're a Jerry Garcia fan, pick this one up.

4. Worst - Strawberry Cheesecake

The Huffington Post was not a fan of this flavor, which features strawberry cheesecake ice cream with strawberries and graham cracker swirl. We think it's okay, but understand the argument that you might as well just eat cheesecake.

5. Best - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

What's not to like? Vanilla ice cream and chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough that are safer to eat than the stuff that comes straight out of a tube or tub.

6. Worst - Peanut Buttah Cookie Core

This one has just a little too much peanut butter for us.

7. Best - Americone Dream

This flavor is just too much fun not to mention it on a list of Ben & Jerry's flavors. "Founded in fudge-covered waffle cones, this caramel-swirled concoction is the only flavor that gets a s'cream of approval from The Late Show host, Stephen Colbert," the website says.

8. Best - Chunky Monkey

Enough with the negativity, let's round out the list with more of the best flavors instead. This one has banana ice cream, fudge chunks, and walnuts. Yum!

9. Best - Phish Food

Chocolate ice cream, marshmallow swirls, caramel swirls, and fudge fish make up this delectable flavor. Plus, royalties from the sales of this ice cream go to environmental efforts in Vermont's Lake Champlain Watershed. Nice!

10. Best - Chocolate Fudge Brownie

We like fudge, and we like brownies. So obviously, this flavor makes the list. It's another one that has a great mission; the brownies in this flavor come from New York's Greyston Bakery, "where producing great baked goods is part of their greater-good mission to provide jobs and training to low-income city residents," the website reveals.

Honorable Mentions:

There are so many great Ben and Jerry's flavors, we wanted to offer a few honorable mentions for Peanut Butter Cup, Mint Chocolate Cookie, Brownie Batter Core, Chubby Hubby (with its pretzels, peanut butter, and fudge, yum!), Pistachio Pistachio, Salted Caramel Core, Karamel Sutra Core, and Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Plus, the brand has some new flavors like Strawberry Topped Tart and Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough you should definitely consider adding to your grocery list!

Happy Netflixing!
