Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies Mean Instant Gratification

I said no for a long time. My husband wanted it and I didn't understand why it was so important to him. I'm talking about an air fryer of course, but I finally gave in and I honestly can't believe we've lived so long without air frying in our lives. Especially since I've discovered I can make a freshly baked small batch of air fryer chocolate chip cookies for myself whenever the mood strikes in a short amount of cooking time. By the way, the mood for carbohydrates strikes often, and who can really blame me when melted butter, egg yolks, baking powder, and cholesterol calls my name?

Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies

Like most air fryer recipes, you get a crispy outside and perfectly cooked chewy inside. The cook time of air fried food is usually shorter and this cookie recipe is no exception. Five minutes of prep time is all it takes with a total time of fifteen minutes until you are happily chomping on warm cookies with a cold glass of milk.

While this cookie recipe calls for milk chocolate and dark chocolate chips, feel free to use semi-sweet chocolate chips or even peanut butter or white chocolate chips for that gooey deliciousness. Mix in chopped pecans or almonds instead of the walnuts called for in this recipe. It's your cookie. Own it.

You want the cookie dough to be pretty solid, so let it chill for 30 minutes if you want the best crispy to chewy ratio.

How to Freeze Cookie Dough

Did you know that you can keep your prepared cookie dough in the refrigerator or freezer? Scoop into individual dough balls and place in ziplock bags or an airtight container. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. You can simply take a few cookie dough balls out to air fry when the cookie mood strikes.

Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies

Air fryer chocolate chip cookies mean (almost) instant gratification. Crispy on the outside, chewy and gooey on the inside. Here's the recipe.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 6 Tbsp white sugar
  • 6 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup walnuts

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugars until creamy with an electric mixer. Add in vanilla extract, egg, salt, baking soda, and flour and mix until a dough forms. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts until combined.
  • Preheat Air Fryer to 350 degrees F and line rack with a piece of parchment paper or aluminum foil. Drop 2-tbsp doughballs onto the sheet and flatten slightly. Bake cookies until golden brown, about 5-8 minutes depending on Air Fryer model, remove the rack from air fryer and set aside. Let cool 5 minutes still in the air fryer basket to set.

Notes

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. You can totally skip this step but refrigerating the cookie dough helps set the butter and meld the flavors together.
