The Secret to a Long Life from a 100-Year-Old Woman? Wine

With age comes wisdom, and it turns out that wine pairs fairly well with age, too. While you can read hundreds of tips and tricks for living your best and longest life, sometimes they seem counterintuitive. Finally, here's one we can get behind. A 100-year-old woman from Maine has a simple longevity tip: Drink wine. Seems like a great idea to us.

The birthday girl's name is Florence Bearse. Born in Massachusetts, Bearse quickly moved to Maine. She now resides in Bangor and is living her life to the fullest every single day.

She told NBC WCSH6, "Maine is beautiful. I tell everybody, 'You want a trip. Go to Maine.'"

Since moving to Maine many moons ago, Bearse has taken quite a liking to wine. "I like my wine," she says. "Don't take it away from me."

Whether the wine was the key to reaching her hundredth birthday or not, one thing's for sure: Bearse still has plenty of personality. We think that might be the best secret for her longevity, but we're more than happy to partake in her favorite drink.

Most of all, beyond wine, she cites not taking any baloney from people as another contributing factor to reaching the 100-year milestone. While we're nearly positive she meant baloney, we're going to play it safe and pass on any bologna coming from strangers.
