10 Fieri-Approved Atlanta Restaurants Featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

Atlanta is known for its quality restaurants, from down-home soul food to out-of-the-box fusion eateries. This Southern city is a hub of delectable spots to eat, so when Guy Fieri took multiple trips to Atlanta on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, it's no surprise that he found an abundance of delicious food. Although Atlanta is best known for its BBQ and soul food, there's no shortage of chefs and restaurant owners bringing their expertise and talent to the city in many different ways, and we trust Guy Fieri to discover them.

Throughout his show, Fieri has returned time and time again to Atlanta to discover more of the city's little-known restaurants full of comforting soul food and mouthwatering dishes. This list features classic Southern food, twists on well-loved dishes, a famously delicious Jewish deli, and more, because there's something for everyone in the capital of the peach state! Here are 10 Atlanta restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives that are well worth a visit.

1. The Highlander

Guy knows his stuff when it comes to food, and he was blown away by The Highlander's delicious pub grub. This eclectic no-frills bar has an outdoor patio and a few bar games, but the real attraction is its cooking. You can't beat the Tater Tots, Nachos or Wings as appetizers, and entrees like the Highlander Burger, Blackened Chicken Etouffee and Beef Stroganoff are as flavorful and comforting as it gets. Plus, the live music and events like drunk bingo and trivia make the experience as fun as it is delectable.

2. The Colonnade

Another stop on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, The Colonnade is beloved for its down-home cooking, from its Prime Rib to Fried Catfish to Black & Blue Ribeye. The eatery's main claim to fame is Southern Fried Chicken, but its customers also come for its welcoming, family atmosphere. Open for almost a century, The Colonnade is an Atlanta institution that brings southern hospitality to the city. When Fieri visited, his main goal was to try the Kangaroo Tenderloin, which didn't disappoint. Upon trying it, he said that the dish tasted like sirloin and had super tasty sauce. If Fieri liked it, it's safe to say that this out-there dish didn't disappoint!

3. The Silver Skillet

The Silver Skillet, which is famous for its amazing Southern breakfast. The Country Ham and Redeye Gravy is tender and flavorful, and it's hard to beat with a side of Cheese Grits or Applewood Smoked Bacon Biscuit. To add to the experience, the vintage decor brings customers right back to the '50's when it opened.

4. Buttermilk Kitchen

Buttermilk Kitchen was featured in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for its mouthwatering, made-from-scratch dishes. When Guy Fieri heard that it has "the best biscuits in Atlanta," he had to give it a try. Try the Chicken and Biscuit, Hot Pepper Jam, and Pimento Cheese Grits to enjoy comforting Southern food that's both filling and flavorful. From the inviting atmosphere to the delectable cooking, this restaurant is not to be missed on a visit to Atlanta.

5. Wrecking Bar Brewpub

Set in an old Victorian mansion, this basement gastropub is an experience, from its funky atmosphere to its delicious bar bites. The pub's specialty beers are brewed onsite, and the menu changes throughout the year to provide customers with seasonal ingredients and flavors. When Fieri visited, his top pick was the Corn Dog Sausage dish, which isn't always on the menu but is just one example of the tasty bites that the restaurant cooks up. This brewpub restaurant features farm-to-table cooking sourced from local bakeries, dairies and farms. It's hard to beat the Crispy Cod Sandwich or Pork Schnitzel when you're looking for a tasty bite to eat.

6. The General Muir

The General Muir is an upscale New York-style deli that serves tasty sandwiches and open-faced bagels. Customers love the amazingly moist but crispy chicken, the deli's flavorful gravy and its crispy fries. For dinner, try the Braised Short Rib or the Roast Chicken.

7. Fox Bros Bar-B-Q

Fox Bros Bar-B-Q brings Atlanta a taste of the Lone Star State, featuring Texas-inspired dishes like Chicken Fried Ribs, Mac and Cheese, Brisket and Slow roasted Ribs. Run by a pair of Texan brothers, this BBQ restaurant is a staple throughout the South and Southeast; no barbecue-lover should pass it by while in Atlanta. Guy Fieri's pick was the Fox Bros "Burger," which features a hickory-smoked brisket with peppered bacon, a pimento cheese patty, pickles, tomato and onion on a toasted bun.

8. Pijiu Belly

For those looking for a change of pace from classic Southern cooking, Pijiu Belly is the spot to go. On his trip to Atlanta in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Guy Fieri was blown away by this restaurant's Southern-Asian fusion dishes. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Rotisserie Chicken or Chinese-Korean street food, this restaurant hits the mark. Plus, you can enjoy your meal with a local beer or craft cocktail.

9. Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours

This soul food spot is famous for its globally inspired soul food, created by chef Deborah VanTrece, who uses her experience as a flight attendant to combine global flavors with classic soul food. Staples like fried chicken and mashed potatoes are served with a twist, with dishes such as Chimichurri Wings and Hoisin-glazed Oxtails.

10. Hankook Taqueria

Guy Fieri always knows how to find the hidden gems, whether it's a dive bar with incredible pub food or an upscale eatery featuring farm-to-table dishes. The Hankook Taqueria is no exception, with its addictingly delicious Korean-Mexican fusion fare. From Fried Dumplings to Sesame Fries to the variety of tacos, this blend of cuisines is ideal for a unique and flavorful meal.
