Willow Tree Poultry Farms, one of Whole Foods’ main suppliers, is facing an embarrassment after it shipped several hundred pounds of chicken salad to the chain that turned out to contain tuna, a known allergen, instead.
About 450 pounds of “buffalo-style chicken salad” was recalled by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The products subject to recall are 12.5-ounce individual plastic containers and bear establishment number “P-8827” inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture mark of inspection.
Products were shipped to stores in New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. Then again, they aren’t the first people to mix up chicken and tuna:
