Trader Joe's Has a $7 Party Cake and I Want a Slice

Just yesterday I was celebrating my little sister's 23rd birthday, birthday cake and all. Every year, I ask her what kind of cake she wants me to bake for her. Having a large sweet tooth I know she loves anything sweet. From lemon bars and dark chocolate lava cake to key lime pie, any dessert tickles her fancy. But when it comes to her birthday, there's one cake she insists on decking out with candles and sprinkles every year: a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

While I love my sister, I am getting a little tired of baking the same thing every year.

This year Trader Joe's has my back. Alongside dessert favorites like Speculoos cookie butter and the sublime ice cream sandwich, Trader Joe's has come out with perfect dessert. The Trader Joe's Party Cake is baked up for all occasions including birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and even the break-up cake. And the best part is the price. At $6.99, it's practically a reason in itself to celebrate.

The cake comes decorated with rainbow sprinkles and has an undecorated top, perfect for writing your own message or decorating with fun frosting designs. The two-layer white vanilla cake is free of any artificial flavoring and topped with a rich and creamy vanilla frosting (made with real butter). Weighing in at 21 ounces, this hefty cake is made to serve eight to 10 people. Really, four or five people could polish this off easily in one sitting.

Whether you are celebrating an anniversary or just enjoying a Friday night, decorate the top of your cake with canned frosting or whip up a small batch of icing using one of our favorite recipes. Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or chocolate doesn't sound like a bad idea either.
