Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year + 10 Creative Ways to Incorporate It

Going green isn’t a new concept. People certainly are embracing the movement lately, though. If you missed it, we recently covered Sierra Nevada’s use of Tesla technology to brew greener beer. In this particular article, though, we’re looking at green in a new way. Green is Pantone’s 2017 color of the year. The color, known as Greenery (a proper noun, of course), is incredibly natural. You can see it on spring leaves, in a halved kiwi, and, potentially, on the walls of your refurbished living room.

The 2017 Color of the Year is PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery,” says Apartment Therapy‘s Tara Bellucci, “which the company describes as ‘a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.'”

Bellucci sees Greenery as a “color of hope and revival,” and she mentions that that “sounds like something [she] can get behind.” We couldn’t agree more. By incorporating this bright, wild green into your home, your dull space can instantly be rejuvenated.

When we see Greenery, we also see rejuvenation. We see the green of a cold-pressed juice made from celery, cucumber, kale, and apple, and we instantly feel a bit healthier. Greenery also reminds us of some not-so-uplifting foods, including but not limited to Green Apple Airheads and Mountain Dew.

What we think isn’t that important, though. We’re interested in hearing what you think of Greenery. Does it remind you of a meal you’ve had? Perhaps it brings you back to the green napkins at your favorite restaurant in France. Alternatively, it could remind you of the last shot that your friend ordered you last Saturday night. Whatever it is, we’d love to know!

Here are some creative ways found on Instagram to incorporate Greenery into your home.

1. Consider a lush tablescape.

This unique backsplash probably existed well before Greenery came onto the scene, but it’s even trendier now.

5. Take it to the bedroom.

6. Snail mail it.

Consider updating your stationery this year to this bright and fresh color.

7. Go bold with paint.

If your entryway needs a refreshing facelift, consider using Greenery.

8. Take commitment issues to the chairs.

If there’s one clear message from Greenery, it’s to encourage us to get outside and take in the natural world in all its beauty.
