Smirnoff Ice Wants to Pay You to Take a 5-Day Weekend

A holiday that falls on a Monday or Friday makes for a long weekend, which I think we can all agree is the best kind of weekend. The folks at Smirnoff Vodka, though, think a five day weekend is better and so they're offering to pay 100 people to take a couple of days off to celebrate the most American of holidays.

Because July 4 falls on a Wednesday, that means that people who get the day off from work don't get a long July weekend this year. So now through July 1, Smirnoff wants you to tell them how you would celebrate if you had a five-day weekend.

Smirnoff Ice Launches National Sweepstakes to Pay for 100 People to Take July 5th and 6th Off Of Work.

All you have to do is drop a comment on the contest post on the @SmirnoffUS Facebook and Instagram page to enter the contest. Winners will be selected randomly and will receive $500.

"I think we can all agree that Wednesday isn't enough time to celebrate America's birthday. Who wants to head back to work and do work things, when you could be on a beach, on a boat or on a mountain celebrating the good ole US of A?," said Krista Kiisk, brand director, Smirnoff Ice.

Smirnoff Ice is holding the contest to celebrate its limited edition Smirnoff Ice flavor Red, White & Berry. The malt beverage, which is made in the United States, is flavored with blue raspberry, cherry, and citrus.

Even if you don't win, reading through everyone else's ideal holiday plans might inspire you to new patriotic heights (or at least get you out of your backyard for a new adventure).

Yes, you still have to get permission from your boss to take those two days off. And you do have to be 21 or older to enter, even though no purchase is required.

You can check out the rules or learn more about the contest here.
