The Motor City will soon be home to the country’s very first combination IHOP-Applebee’s, Daily Detroit reports. Downtown Detroit’s Millender Center on Jefferson and Brush will be home to the new cross-branded location, expected to open late this year.
The 12,000-foot ground-floor restaurant will have room for some 300 guests, and will feature a coffee bar along with its menu of “guest-favorites.”
In a statement from TSFR (Team Schostak Family Restaurants), Executive Chairman Mark Schostak said of the concept, “As we continue to lead the way in the restaurant industry, TSFR is proud to expand our portfolio by uniquely combining two nationally recognized and family-oriented brands into one co-branded restaurant in the City of Detroit.”
Schostak continued to praise the merger, saying,
“This expansion is a testament to our commitment to the City of Detroit and Michigan, and it’s aligned with our strategic growth plan. Applebee’s is built on the concept of being a neighborhood grill and bar, which is the perfect complement to the welcoming, family-friendly environment IHOP has delivered for nearly 60 years. We look forward to bringing more jobs to our community and providing an elevated dining experience to all restaurant guests.”
It seems like this could very well be a homerun when it comes to restaurant combinations. We look forward to seeing where the next IHOP-Applebee’s will appear.
