Taxes are hard. Even if you don’t owe anything, just the process of getting them done and sent in is a slog. But every year, businesses across the country try to make Tuesday, April 17 a little easier by giving away free food on Tax Day or a offering a discount to their customers.

Double check with your individual location for each of these deals as they may vary from place to place. We’ll be updating this list as more businesses announce or confirm their offers.
Applebee’s: We don’t suggest indulging in too many of these, but a cheap drink might dull the tax pain. If you’re a fan of Applebee’s $1 margarita, you’re in luck. The Dollarita is back at participating Applebee’s locations through the end of April.
Bite Squad: If you’re holed up trying to finish your taxes and you don’t have time to cook or go out, get some food delivered. Bite Squad is offering 7.5 percent off your order on April 17 with promo code TAXDAY18.
Boston Market: Dine in and order a Tax Day Meal Special on April 17 for $10.40. The deal includes a half chicken individual meal with two sides, cornbread, a cookie, and a regular fountain drink.
Bruegger’s Bagels: The bagel bakery is offering its Big Bagel Bundle (13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese) for $10.40 from April 11 through April 17.
California Tortilla: The chain is “chipping in” with free chips and queso on April 17. All you have to do is say “chipping in” when you place your order.
Chuck E. Cheese’s: The chain is giving families a break by offering a free large cheese pizza with the purchase of any large regular-priced pizza between April 17 and 19.
Firehouse Subs: Participating locations are offering a free medium sub with the purchase of a medium or large sub, chips, and drink. The deal is good April 17 through April 19 with this coupon or the promo code TAXDAY2018.
Great American Cookies: In an effort to make Tax Day a little bit sweeter, Great American Cookies is offering a free cookie to each customer at participating stores on April 17. Last year the chain offered a birthday cake cookie, but this year it’s their limited edition Cookies & Cream cookie.
Hardee’s: Hardee’s is giving away free Sausage Biscuits at participating locations on Tuesday, April 17, but only until 10 a.m. local time.
Hot Dog on a Stick: Get a free Original Turkey Dog or Veggie Dog at participating Hot Dog on a Stick locations nationwide on April 17. Offer is limited to one per customer.
Kona Ice: Tax Day is National Chill Out Day to the folks at Kona Ice, where the motto is “No taxation without relaxation.” The shaved-ice trucks will be parked at different locations (including some tax preparation offices) offering free shaved ice to customers. Office Depot/Office Max: Once you’ve finished your taxes, it’s time to shred some old paperwork (after carefully checking to see what you need to keep on hand). Office Depot and Office Max stores are offering free document shredding for up to five pounds of paper with this coupon through April 28.
Planet Fitness: The only better than free food is a free massage. HydroMassage and Planet Fitness have teamed up to offer tax stress relief with a free hydromassage from Saturday, April 14 through Saturday, April 21 at over 1500 Planet Fitness locations. Find the location closest to you and print out the coupon here.
Schlotzsky’s Sandwiches: Customers can get a free small original sandwich when they buy chips and a medium drink.
Sonny’s BBQ: Sonny’s is making tax day a little less painful with its own version of the IRS. Participating locations of the restaurant will offer an Irresistible Ribs Special: St. Louis Rib dinners at half price. This promo is valid for dine in or take out dinner portions only.
Tony Roma’s: Dine at Tony Roma’s April 14 through 17 and receive a free Kickin’ Shrimp appetizer as the restaurant’s “tax return to you.”
Here are a few other restaurants that have offered Tax Day freebies or deals in the past, but haven’t confirmed their plans yet:
Arby’s: Last year, the chain offered free curly fries.
Chili’s: Expect a Tax Day special on drinks (last year was blueberry and pineapple margaritas for $6).
Cinnabon: In the past, the cinnamon roll chain has offered two Cinnabon bites per customer.
McDonald’s: Last year, the company offered a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder for a penny, but only in certain regions.
Noodles & Company: The pasta chain generally offers a “File Online, Order Online” promotion where you can use a code on any online order to receive $4 off a $10 purchase.
