Over 3,000 Pounds of Frozen Meatballs Recalled Over Listeria Concerns

If you've purchased frozen meatballs in the past few days, you should check the label. According to the USDA, over 3,000 pounds of frozen meatballs produced by Rich Products Corporation, a Vineland, N.J have been recalled due to a chance they contain listeria monocytogenes.

The food products were produced on December 17, 2017 and have a "Best if Used By 17 DEC 2018" label. The products in question includes 36-pound cases containing six 6-pound bags of Member's Mark Casa DI BERTACCHI ITALIAN STYLE BEEF MEATBALLS". The packages also have the code: 15507351.

The packages were shipped to various grocery stores in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. If you have bought this product, return it to the store of original purchase or discard immediately.

Consuming foods with listeria can cause harmful infections which are extremely dangerous if you are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. If affected, it can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. If contaminated food is consumed medical attention should be sought out immediately.

This isn't the first outbreak scare of the year. Recently, large amounts of romaine lettuce were linked with E.Coli in both Canada and the United States.
