These 5 Companies Own Almost Every Beer in the World

The desire to buy local products and support local artisans is on the rise, especially when it comes to craft brews and spirits. However, when you pick up a bottle of craft beer, you might be buying into the same big brand that you’re trying to avoid by not buying a Budweiser or Coors.

As part of Visual Capitalist‘s The Illusion of Choice campaign, they decided to document the owner of each beer brand owned by AB InBev SAB Miller, MolsonCoors, Heineken, Diageo, and Carlsberg. There were six companies until recently, but in October 2016, AB InBev and SAB Miller merged, creating an unstoppable beer repertoire.

Here are the beer brands owned by the five companies in the world.
