While there are endless ways to spend your long summer in the Lone Star States, save a few dates because these beer festivals are going to be a smash. Saving you countless hours of traveling from taproom to taproom, these festivals will feature some of the best craft beers around and it’s all in one spot! Share your affection for big Texas breweries with their brewers present and just think of all the rare beers you’ll get to try.
While Austin’s Index Fest and Dallas’ Big Texas Beer Fest have already passed for 2017, there are so many fantastic events left to attend that make craft beer fun and approachable for newbies. Whether you’re already involved in the craft beer scene in Texas or not, these festivals have something for everyone! From local Texas breweries like Blue Owl to big names from out of state like Founders, these four Texas festivals are a must for the calendar.
1. The Best Little Brewfest
What are you doing June17th? You’re going to the Best Little Brewfest in Texas – that’s what. The Best Little Brewfest taking place in Lewisville, Texas will feature food and retail vendors, live music, and of course, beer! Award winning Rahr & Sons, Dallas’ Community Beer Co., and long time loved Shiner will all be there and then some. With over 80 breweries and 300 plus craft beers on the beer list, there will be plenty of tasting to go around.
The best part about attending this festival is you’re drinking for a cause. All the proceeds will go to Cloud 9 charities which supports Alzheimer’s care and teen suicide prevent. With 100 percent of your time and money going to a good cause, it’s reason enough to imbibe if only for one day.
2. BrewMaster’s Craft Beer Festival
Labor Day may sound far away now, but it sneaks up on you. If you don’t already have plans – and if you do, cancel them – the BrewMaster’s Craft Beer Festival is going to be the hot spot to be. The three-day event will take place in Galveston and offer over 400 regional, as well as, international craft beers.
You can purchase tickets to events like the Brew-B-Que which will be serving up some killer Texas style food and music along with brews and spirits. For all the diehard beer geeks, there will be the Texas Brewery Tour where you can meet craft brewing reps in person and geek out over the beers they chose for you to taste. There will even be a BrewMasters Bad Ass Beer competition to partake in – yeah that’s right. Voted by USA Today as on of the 10 Best Festivals, you won’t want to miss it.
3. Tour de Fat
Today's good times in Fort Collins pushed us past the $4 million mark for money raised on behalf of cycling advocacy! Thanks for helping out over the last 16 years everybody. We're going to celebrate at tonight's after party – free show at the @downtownartery with @sistersparrowdb. You should join us ?
If you’re a fan of beer, bikes and bemusement, then you won’t want to miss this year’s Tour de Fat in Dallas on June 17th. Tour de Fat is a festival dedicated to a beer induced good time of whimsical folly and sideshow acts. Guaranteed a day of mind-blowing entertainment, there will be circus performers, magicians, vaudeville acts, and headliner Jamestown Revival to entertain.
There is a schedule of events for festival goers to have the opportunity to strut their stuff and show the world what they’re made of. The event’s talking place will feature a fashion show of outlandish costumes, a dance contest where you can win a New Belgium cruiser, and a Slow Ride where the last one to cross the finish line wins.
Oh yeah, beyond all the madness there will be New Belgium’s finest beers flowing all day long. Or at least until the taps run dry and the party dies when curfew time hits.
If going, use the $5 Lyft code to get you to and from the festival safely.
4. Beer Camp
The big-kahuna of the craft beer festivals, Beer Camp is the event of the season. And this year, it will be taking place at Carson Creek Ranch in Austin on June 24th! The largest craft beer festival in America, Beer Camp features some of the best craft breweries the nation has to offer. At the Austin event, you’ll be able to get a taste of Texas with the likes of 512 Brewing Company, Austin Beerworks, Hops & Grain, and Blue Owl. If that’s not good enough, some out-of-staters like Firestone Walker, Alesmith, Founders, and Maui Brewing Co. will be there.
With the price of admission you will receive 12 2-ounce tasters, a free commemorative glass, and access to see live music – Minor Mishap and Whiskey Shivers will be performing. You’ll also get the chance to eat some tasty food truck grub from the likes of Gourdough’s, Leroy and Lewis Barbecue, and Garbo’s Lobster Truck. If there is only one beer fest you go to this summer, then this guy should be it.
Don’t wish you were there, be there and get your tickets today!
