RECALL ALERT: Over 250,000 Pounds of Frozen Burritos from Green Chile Food Company

Burritos are nearly always good. One could argue that burritos are good until they’re bad, but until they’re bad they’re always good. Makes sense, right? (Sort of.) Recently, a whole darn lot of burritos that could’ve been good turned out to be bad. Over 250,000 pounds of frozen burritos were recalled. We’re very, very sad that so many tons of burritos had to be laid to rest.

Green Chile Food Company, a New Mexico-based company, sells dozens of frozen burrito products. Meat-based frozen burritos were recalled. The USDA reports a total of 252,854 pounds of burritos being affected by this. They also have a list of all of the impacted products.

The recall was due to listeria. Fever and diarrhea are common symptoms of listeria. We’d argue that at least one out of those two symptoms can be caused by non-tainted frozen burritos, as well. That’s just us, though.

The USDA lists additional symptoms, such as “fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.”

We’re classifying this one as an “it happens” type of deal. Golf ball shards in frozen hash browns still make no sense to us (click here for that article), but germs and bacteria and such just happen.

Just like all recalls, this too shall pass. You’ll have your frozen burritos back in no time, folks.
