Welcome and hi there,
My name is Shannon Ratliff and I'm the Managing Editor of Wide Open Eats. Since October 2016, we have grown into a strong community of home cooks across the country. I'm grateful to do something I love every day, both in the kitchen and out, and with 2018 upon us, I began to think about you, dear reader.
You see, I've always believed three things:
- that the hearth of the home is place where you're free to experiment and free to fail in equal measure,
- that practicing Meatless Monday and sitting in a deer stand on Wednesday aren't mutually exclusive,
- and that above all else, when we talk to each other about food, we are really talking to family.
The best home cooks don't have the most expensive kitchen tools or the fanciest kitchens; the best home cooks make the most of what they have for their families. That is our philosophy here, and I'm reaching out to you now to learn more about what excites you, what interests you, and what you wish you knew. If you take about 10 minutes of your time to answer our short 25-question survey, you'll be entered to win a $100 Target gift card. The winner will be notified on February 26, 2018.
